Internacionalización e integración de los sistemas de educación superior en el mercosur educativo

Abstract

This article describes the creation and development of the Educational Area in the Mercosur region (Mercosur Educativo), in the context of current global and regional trends and growing internationalization of the systems of HE. The strategic plans and programs are analysed in their strengths and weaknesses. Special focus is placed on the need for a new agenda and methodological approaches in the field of research on Higher Education. Finally, the author presents opportunities and risks involved in these processes for professional development in university teaching.
