Abstract: The precarious situation of the Artistic Education in the pre-university courses in the Spanish academic world is analysed in this article, showing the contrast of this reality with the summit that this field is taking in the Latin America countries. The Spanish Organic Law 8/2013, of December 9, for the improvement of the educational quality (LOMCE), sets artistic education aside in secondary education (as an elective subject), bearing in mind that in primary education the figure of the specialized teacher in visual arts has never existed. On the other side, some recent initiatives come to claim the importance the Artistic Education in the stage of secondary education. As an example, the project “ Second Round: Art and struggle in secondary school “ born under the auspice of the Research Group CREARI (GIUV2013-103) and of the Teaching Innovation and Creativity Institute (ICIE) of the Universitat de València. In this course of action, first steps of the association movement linked to the specialty (AVPD) manage to claim the necessary presence of the artistic education in the official curricula, generating the visibility of the group.
