Abstract

This issue of Quaderns de Filologia provides a series of studies on Cognitive Linguistics which present a wide range of approaches from a multilingual perspective, according to the editorial line of this journal. Following the tradition within Quaderns de Filologia: Estudis Lingüístics, this issue is conceived as a monograph topic: New Perspectives in Cognitive Linguistics, after the previous monographs on Critical Discourse Analysis (vol. 11), Pragmatics, Discourse and Society (vol. 12) and Hispanic Linguistic Historiography.

We can state that Cognitive Linguistics is the most influential school of the late 20th century and the early 21st century. Stemming from Chomskyan generativism, it accounts for grammar and such fundamental phenomena as the perception of reality, linguistic encoding and meaning generation. Although it is obviously not the panacea for linguistic problems, it has undoubtedly helped to gain insights into many of the raised questions.
