Abstract

The present volumes stems from the need for a closer look at the studies of discourse pragmatics in today's society from an international and diverse perspective. With this aim, the volume gathers contributions from researchers from diverse origins that present their pragmatic and social studies from discourses in different varieties of the Spanish language, as well as in Catalan, French, German and English. Furthermore, these discourses include from computer-mediated texts - such as email discourse, weblogs or business phone calls - to media texts such as the TV interview or written sport reports, scientific texts, historical texts and, of course, ordinary conversations. We therefore provide readers with a wide, varied and current panorama of studies grouped under the title Pragmatics, Discourse and Society.
