El matrimonio en el pensamiento social de Luis Vives: entre la antropología y la teoría política

Se estudia el pensamiento de Vives acerca del matrimonio, defendiendo que este forma parte no sólo de sus ideas pedagógicas, sino también de su pensamiento social. Se analiza primero el matrimonio como ley natural y, más extensamente, como ley humana. Se ponen de manifiesto algunas similitudes entre las ideas expuestas por el humanista y la moderna antropología del parentesco, especialmente en lo relativo a la relación entre prohibición del incesto y exogamia. El sistema de subordinación de género que se desprende del análisis de Vives permite ubicar a este como un teórico del patriarcado moderno, con implicaciones políticas y sociales.

Vives’ thinking about marriage is studied, arguing that this forms part not only of his pedagogical ideas, but also of his social thought. Marriage is first analyzed as a natural law and, more extensively, as a human law. Some similarities between the ideas put forward by Vives and the modern anthropology of kinship are revealed, especially in relation to the relation between prohibition of incest and exogamy. The system of gender subordination that emerges from the analysis of Vives allows to locate this as a theoretician of modern patriarchy, with political and social implications.
