Author Biography

David Caron, University of Michigan

David Caron est professeur de Lettres françaises et de Women’s and Gender Studies, ainsi que professeur associé au Frankel Institute for Judaic Studies à l’Université du Michigan (Etats-Unis). Il a publié de nombreux articles sur le sida, la littérature gay, la littérature testimoniale de la Déportation et de la Shoah et le cinéma queer contemporain. Il est aussi l’auteur de AIDS in French Culture: Social Ills, Literary Cures (University of Wisconsin Press, 2001) sur le sida en France; My Father and I: The Marais and the Queerness of Community (Cornell University Press, 2009), traduit en français sous le tire Marais gay, Marais juif: Pour une théorie queer de la communauté (EPEL, 2015); et The Nearness of Others: Searching for Tact and Contact in the Age of HIV (University of Minnesota, 2014), ouvrage autobiographique et théorique sur la séropositivité. Il a co-dirigé avec Sharon Marquart un recueil d’essais en français sur Charlotte Delbo intitulé Les revenantes: Charlotte Delbo, la voix d’une communauté à jamais déportée (Presses universitaires du Mirail, 2011). Il a récemment dirigé un numéro special de The Romanic Review en hommage à Ross Chambers : « A Legacy of Love » (2018). Il écrit en ce moment un livre intitulé « Apparitions : Transnational Queer Cinema and the Poetics of Personhood ».
