Abstract

Lorenzo Abruñedo was one of the best Spanish opera singers during the second half of the nineteenth century. He was born in Oviedo in 1836 and died in Madrid in 1904. In this paper we study the world premiere of the opera Aida at the Teatro Principal of Valencia, on June 21, 1876, and other representacions of the same opera, documented through music criticism published in the Valencian press of that time.
