摘要

Assessing academic writing skills is key to developing instructional processes to help freshmen students master academic writing. This article presents the construction and validation process of an instrument developed for that purpose. To do so, we first discuss the theoretical construct of the test, then we describe the process through which the instrument was developed and validated, and, finally, we report the results and discuss some implications for instruction.
