Abstract

Coincidint bàsicament amb les guerres dels segadors (1640-52) i de successió (1702-14) es va bastir a la ciutat de Tortosa un nou "sistema defensiu", aplicant-hi els nous coneiximents tècnics de l'època, tot i reafirmant la funció estratégica de la ciutat. LA font cartográfica i el treball de camp, reconeixent les abundants restes que es conserven, han estat la base del treball, per tal de "reconstruir" i analitzar el disseny global i els trets de detall d'aquest sistema defensiu.
