En la organización del territorio valenciano la conquista cristiana por Jaime I viene a representar un hito decisivo en el posterior evolución del poblamiento. La colonización del recién creado reino significó una ruptura evidente con la época anterior, una de cuyas facetas básicas fue el interés por desarrollar asentamientos "urbanos", como centros de poder político, religioso y económico, que ejercieron un papel articulador y que sientan las bases de su futura red de ciudades.Downloads
