Desigualdad y demografía en áreas metropolitanas de España

La investigación se centra en el estudio de la desigualdad social en áreas metropolitanas españolas (estudios
de caso: Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia) asumiendo la elasticidad del concepto y buscando,
a partir de los datos ofrecidos por fuentes estadísticas oficiales, correlaciones entre la estructura demográfica,
la desigualdad en ingreso y algunos fenómenos territoriales en auge, como son la gentrificación
y la turistificación de las ciudades. Asimismo, se asume el reto metodológico de combinar indicadores
como el coeficiente de Gini y la Quantile ratio, a la vez que en el plano de las relaciones territoriales se
ensaya la aplicación del concepto de autocorrelación espacial para explicar la desigualdad observada, lo
que implica el recurso a los modelos SARAR. Los resultados se muestran en tablas y mapas y se discuten
en función de las hipótesis enunciadas, finalizando con las conclusiones y la bibliografía citada. Con
este trabajo se espera avanzar en el conocimiento de la desigualdad en contextos metropolitanos y sus
componentes espaciales.
