The initiating core of this book was a symposium that took place in Leipzig in 2014, organized by the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy". The aim of the symposium was to compare different music teaching practices in the form of music lessons (from the teachers' point of view), in the compulsory education systems of different countries and states whit boys and girls aged 13 to 15 years. Then, to contrast these comparisions in orden to emerge cultural and cross-cultural categories of music education.
