Abstract

Traditional Canarian music is one of the most interesting folkloric phenomena in terms of its diversity and quality. It occupies an important place in the state's music scene, not only because of the number of songs and dances it has contributed to the rich and varied musical folklore Spanish, but also by the amount of research and data collected from it. There are many reasons that justify the use of traditional music in classrooms, as well as the values ??of oral music and its application for didactic purposes. The contents of the Canary Islands are essential when it comes to studying and learning the universal culture from the environment. Most of the Canarian musical genres provide us with an important flow of texts, melodies and dances that can be used in the classroom. However, the application of traditional music in the classroom is a challenge for teachers of music who often face unknown language.
