About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Journal of Sociology of Education-RASE (ISSN 2605-1923) is an electronic journal that publishes three issues a year (January, May, September) and it started in 2008. It is currently linked to the Committee of Sociology of Education of the Federation of Sociology of Education in Spain. It was start with the objective to disseminate research and scientific reflection in the field of the Sociology of Education. The Journal of Sociology of Education-RASE publishes research of theoretical and empirical scope from different approaches and from the methodological plurality, the relationship between education and society. In addition, it includes the main current debates on the social impact of educational policies and educational practices and processes. The journal reflects in its publications the diversity of contemporary and emerging theoretical approaches, in addition to different empirical treatments, about frequent themes in this field such as educational inequalities and their relationship with social structure, stratification and social mobility in relation to education, discourses on educational policies, relations betweens students and teachers, education and gender, education and social class, the social dimensions of the curriculum and school organization, social experiences and perceptions about education, phenomena migratory and its impact on education, case studies in different educational levels and classical and emerging socio-educational problems, among other topics.
It is a multilingual magazine, since it accepts works in Spanish, English and Portuguese and, in addition, its website is available in three languages (English, Spanish and Catalan). This linguistic diversity of the RASE is a sample of its international dimension, in fact, it receives and publishes frequently works of international origin and counts in a Scientific Council with experts in the field of the Sociology of Education of international scope.
Peer Review Process
As a procedure to guarantee the quality of the journal and the adjustment to its objectives, papers sent to be possibly published in RASE will be evaluated by specialists in the topic who will apply a “double blind” method (ensuring anonymity in the process for authors and reviewers during the editorial process).
The Editorial Committee will firstly review papers sent. Accepted papers will be reviewed by two reviewers. From their reports, the Editorial Committee will decide whether the article will be published, or its author will be suggested to change those aspects that the reviewers dislike and send it again, or the article will be rejected. Anyway, authors will be informed of the final decision as soon as possible. Every decision will be justified.
