Abstract

First, the article systematizes some ideas of Bauman, as the concepts of order, ambivalence, liquid modernity, status and role of the intellectual, social exclusion in globalization and double metaphor (tourist, tramp), the producer and consumer, and the community. Second, the article analyzes the role of education in Bauman's vision of society.

Although his ideas are interesting and suggestive, and more or less significant to contemporary society, are too general to provide specific explanations. Metaphors are not sufficient to describe, understand and explain the reality.
