Kant sostiene, en la Crítica de la razón pura y en otros textos, que las ideas de la razón se originan en las formas del silogismo. Llamamos deducción metafísica de las ideas a esta investigación del origen de ellas en las formas del prosilogismo. Pero si bien Kant sostiene que esa actividad lógica es el origen de las ideas, no muestra en detalle cómo se efectúa esa deducción metafísica de las ideas.
