Pragmaestilística del català

Abstract

This paper summarizes articles and books about Catalan stylistics ans pragmatics. Variational research in catalan sociolinguistic describes standard, literary, and conversational forms. The paper explains the contents of these studies and distinguishes between oral and writing code. Emphasis is put on some aspects of variations, such as field of discourse, tone and tenor, wich determine the kind of registers. Another aspect trated in the paper is writings stylistic and the relationship between spoken language and its literary reproduction. Most ot these questions are debatable in catalan, as well as translation, administrative language and journalistic style guides. In the same way geographical variation is analyzed.
