Abstract

Abstract: A study of the parallelisms detected between Lo somni de Joan Joan and several Catalan compositions written in the 14th and 15th centuries, with special attention given to the noves rimades and the sentimental narrations. Thanks to the metrical formula used by the author on this occasion, the codolada, Gassull manages to combine material from different sources and different genres, and by so doing he is able to keep some aspects of the earlier tradition alive. This justifies the need for a new approach to the mocking verses of 15h century Valencian poets.
