Abstract
Abstract: This dissertation deals with the status of the circulation of the Catalan versions of Esopian fables, from Aesop’s lost manuscripts to texts printed from the preserved documentation. Aesop’s late appearance in printing (Barcelona, Joan Carles Amorós, 1550 and Barcelona, Sansón Arbús, 1576) makes us think of the existence of one or more previous editions. This paper deals also with the study of the Gothic testimonies, their relation with the Castilian incunable printed in Jean Parix and Étienne Clebat’s print shop in Toulouse, their connection with the subsequent Castilian editions printed after 1510 and, finally, their differences with this Castilian tradition.
