Abstract

Teacher education in general and music education in particular is a recurring research topic worldwide (Goodwin, 2010), as teacher quality determines the quality of the education system (Darling-Hammond et al., 2017). In recent years, aspects such as the creation of the European Higher Education Area have led to changes in teacher education curricula, both nationally and internationally. In this sense, it is necessary to analyze, from a critical point of view, how these transformations have influenced the training of future music teachers and their adaptation to current contexts. To this end, this monograph contains eight studies that seek to respond to this issue from different perspectives, some of them the result of the Project "Teacher training and music in society and the knowledge economy" of the State Program for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research of Excellence.
