Last twenty years Spanish economic development has been underpinned on low add value sectors such as building industry and tourism. Underlying this economic growth are the arrival of millions of immigrants –whose qualification were disregarded- and the quite worrying increase of student drop-outs. It is expected a return to the educational system of the early leavers and most struggling student will remain at secondary education. Some voices argue in favour of fostering intermediate vocational education and increasing pre-vocational education inside compulsory secondary education. Nevertheless, this could be an opportunity for promoting a new education, a democratic education. Such democratic education should mean, at least, success for almost everyone, connection with surrounding environment and increasing participation in schools.
