Abstract

Abtstract: The article analyses the strategies employed by two Catalan poets, Maria-Mercè Marçal and Dolors Miquel, in deconstructing the discourses through which gender roles have been established. We will point out some commonalities between the two, such as the reformulation of female stereotypes, the fragmented and unstable poetic self, the dialogue with the Bible, a rewriting of the Lord’s prayer and the feminization of God. Both Maria-Mercè Marçal and Dolors Miquel address through their poetry some of the yearnings, political projects and debates of contemporary Feminist movements.
Key words: Maria-Mercè Marçal, Dolors Miquel, Female stereotypes, male-centered subject, feminization of God.
