In El condestable don Álvaro de Luna (1850), Manuel Fernández y González describes a court marked by internal betrayals and family hexes. The author gathers in this way, the influence of the Gothic novel incorporating it into the novel through the presence of different supernatural elements. The third part, centred on the story of the curse of the Villafranca family is set in the castle of Juan-sin-alma, whose construction and subsequent abandonment will be closely related to the destination family. In the present article, I will tackle the influence of the Gothic narrative in the historical novel of Fernández and González.
