From crisis to crisis, the European Union has gradually lost the deep meaning of its creation and tends to move away from the values that underlie it. This article considers that it must constantly be reminded of its political identity, that of the rule of law and of an exemplary democracy. To deal with global challenges, its response must be one driven by a collective political will.
