Readings of the current crisis in Europe that do not take into account the seriousness of such crisis limit their critical scope, or result being thor- oughly inadequate, if they do not ponder on notions such as “sovereign- ty”, “citizenship”, “democracy”, or on the (already limited) understanding of politics as the set of practices linked to the exercise of the logic of in- stitutions. This article assumes the challenge of analyzing these categories from a philosophical perspective in order to take part to a necessary de- bate about the construction of the UE as resulting from a set of post-na- tional institutions.
