The «return» of the author in true crime: Tor, tretze cases i tres morts (TV3, 2024)
Abstract
This article analyses the narrative construction of the empirical author in Tor, Tretze cases i tres morts, the true crime directed by Carles Porta for TV3 in 2024. It is assumed that, unlike the news genres, the author/narrator/character of true crime structures the story around the semiological (Barthesian) adventure of his own representation. The narrative ecosystem of Tor, whose transmedia expansion includes two books by Porta on the documentary series, makes it an exemplary text in terms of the creative strategy of contemporary true crime. The procedure presents interesting similarities with La préparation du roman, Roland Barthes' Grand Project of constructing a work structured around the need to combine the author's own exposition with the introjection of the other. The exploration of this process is the object of the present study.
