The article examines the common elements of comedy theatre as perceived in contemporary press reviews using the examples of Tricicle, Pepe Rubianes and the duo Faemino y Cansado. An examination of numerous interviews and reviews published over more than twenty-five years reveals a series of recycled strategies employed by these comic actors to promote their shows, and in particular, the conventional attitudes and lack of critical commitment shown by the journalists who wrote the articles. However, resorting to this type of documentation is unavoidable, due to the shortage of academic bibliography on these examples of contemporary humour.
