Abstract

This paper intends to explain why French and spanish 16th and 17th centuries bilingual dictionaries establish an equivalence between the terms “grasseyer” and “cecear”, as they have never had equivalent meanings following their linguistic history and have always designated different concepts. Notwithstanding, there are some elements that have allowed and encouraged the lexicographic equivalence that never really existed.
