Submission of articles

Desk review

All articles will first undergo a plagiarism test compliant with COPE standards. After the originality of the submission has been verified, the editors will then determine that the article fulfills the journal’s standards. At this stage, authors may receive a desk rejection or requests for changes. All the papers that the meet the journal’s standards will further proceed to the peer review stage.

Peer review

Articles will be submitted to a double double-blind peer-review process. Just maintains a diverse referee pool to check for social biases in academic publishing.

Reviewers are contacted immediately and a suitable reviewing period is negotiated. Authors will receive the results of their articles’ review within a 4-month period. If delays occur, authors will be notified.

As a result of the review, authors may be asked to introduce changes suggested by the reviewers and the editors. The decision will be one of the following:

  • Accept submission: the article is accepted and no (further) changes are required.
  • Reject submission: the article is rejected when the result of the review process is negative.
  • Revisions required: the author is requested to make the changes suggested before accepting it for publication.
  • Review and resubmit: if reviewers or editors consider that the work necessary to bring a submission to publication standards is considerable, the authors will be asked to resubmit their paper at a later time to allow for major changes in the work to be introduced.

Authors are encouraged to submit a report of the suggestions taken and rejected. When necessary, a second review round will be set up.

Once the revised version is submitted, if applicable, editors will verify whether the required changes have been introduced and accept or reject the submission accordingly. If revisions are considered insufficient but any further changes are considered minor, authors will be given the opportunity to introduce further revisions The editors will notify the authors of their decision regarding their paper.

Final edits will be introduced before publication and authors will be given the chance to review a set of proofs.
