Argumentation and style in La Celestina 's discourses

Abstract

This article constitutes a rhetorical analysis of ten La Celestina's extensive discourses, pronounced by their main characters. The description of the ornatus and the compositio in these unitary orations is an useful line of research to make a deepening in this large study field. The main style resources in La Celestina will be identified and extended through a comprehensive comment of these discourses, and its continuity in the book will be justified through the mention of other examples. In addition, the conclusions drawn suppose a brief but consistent contribution of the problematic in the autorship, since the variations in the style of the different writing stages can serve as a support to the advances made by other philological disciplines about this subject.
