This research has the purpose of analyzing the labyrinthine spaces of the castles as they are portrayed in the following films: Eye of the Devil (1966) directed by J. Lee Thompson (England, 1914-2002), based on the novel Day of the Arrow (1964) by Philip Loraine (England, 1920-2002), and The Ninth Gate (1999) directed by Roman Polanski (France, 1933), based on the novel The Club Dumas (1993) by Arturo Pérez Reverte (Spain, 1951). In these movies, the images of castles recreate in a symbolic way the enigmas presented through the character conflicts to project an elusive and ubiquitous presence that open a portal to the unknown.
