This article analyzes the conditions of film creation and production during the Popular Unity government. To do this, it examines three main axes. First, the political problems that the filmmakers had to face. Second, the ideological problems that crossed the production spaces linked to the socialist construction project. Thirdly, the economic problems that materialized in the difficulty of accessing the materials and resources necessary for filming and post-production. These economic problems were linked to the invisible blockade with which the North American multinationals hit the Chilean economy, and in a very conspicuous way the cinematographic sector. The article also alludes to the way in which many of the filmmakers identified with the Popular Unity project had to develop, as of September 1973, much of their cinematography in exile.
