In this article we study Flors i viatges (2021) by the artistic duo Cabosanroque –a reinterpretation of Mercè Rodoreda’s work Viatges i flors– from a hypertextual and intermedial perspective. Rodoreda’s original text is made up of two collections, which Cabosanroque reads in the key of war. This reading is decisive in the creation of a meaning of its own. The art installation –which combines literary texts, sculpture, music, sound and visual effects, as well
as projections– has a similar structure to the original book. It includes some original narratives
and incorporates fragments La guerra no té cara de dona, by Svetlana Aleksiévitx (2020), with
the aim of highlighting the universality of the texts and their link to the context of the moment:
the war in Ukraine. The work also seeks to focus attention on the female figures and, in this
sense, several female refugees of Ukrainian origin recite texts translated into their language.
Thus, we analyse the compositional and hypertextual complexity of the work.
