The essay aims to analyze how the Italian writer Raffaele Nigro uses the biographical elements in the description of spaces and the presentation of characters to turn them into fiction in his novel Viaggio a Salamanca. Likewise, the article is written from the perspective of a researcher who maintains a long friendship with the author. Besides that fact he also is a fictional character in the novel and its translator into Spanish. This personal closeness and direct knowledge about how the work came into life and the provision of unpublished letters by Nigro will be able to demonstrate some of the keys and unknown or little known meanings of the novel.
