This paper suggests that lexicographic definitions, as shown in dictionaries, incorporate all previous stages through which any definition has passed. Therefore, when analyzing definitions in dictionaries, it is essential to take into account the level of the observation used in the analysis. In particular, it is necessary to distinguish between meanings and lexicographic definitions, which is one way to represent the meaning, but it is not the only one. Thus, it is also advisable to expel from dictionary making the theoretical difference between the lexicographic and the encyclopedic meaning, which is hardly acceptable. Similarly, there is a need to specify the exact requirements of conmutation as proof of good definition.
