Valencian traces in the translation of ‘Orlando innamorato’, by F. Garrido de Villena (1555)

Abstract
The present article analyzes the octaves that Garrido de Villena added to Boiardo's poem with the aim to insert in the Spanish version of the work a series of characters belonging to Valencian elites. It is an exercise in manipulation, adaptation, and anachronic contextualization, as much as it is a creative design that runs parallel to a translation effort while being integrated in it and intended to pose a societal model to his contemporary Spanish readers.

Dra. Helena Aguilà Ruzola, profesora del Área de Filología Italiana de la UAB desde 2004, anteriormente docente en la Universidad Pablo de Olavide, de Sevilla, y en la UB. Profesora visitante en la Università di Messina (2014-15). A finales de 2017 se publicará un libro basado en su tesis doctoral El Orlando enamorado de M.M. Boiardo traducido por F. Garrido de Villena (1555): edición crítica y anotada con estudio preliminar . Coeditora del volumen Sfaccettature della traduzione letteraria , Roma, Artemide, 2016. Autora de varios artículos y comunicaciones en congresos sobre distintos aspectos de la traducción del Innamorato y otras traducciones literarias. Miembro del comité científico y organizador y ponente en las Jornadas Internacionales Anuales sobre Traducción Quando la traduzione va in scena(UAB-Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi di Milano-UniMe, 2017); El rostro del traductor (UAB-UPF-UniMe, 2016); Cattive traduzioni, manipolazioni volontarie, riscritture artistiche (Università di Catania-Ragusa, 2015); La pratica della traduzione letteraria (Università di Messina, 2014); Dones traductores, dones traduïdes i dones en les traduccions literàries (UAB, 2013). Traductora literaria con más de 150 libros de narrativa y ensayo publicados.
