Abstract

Davide Enia is one of the most significant authors and actors of the so-called “teatro di narrazione” (narrative theatre): this essay traces his career and production, from the beginnings in the early 2000s to the more recent L’abisso (2018), which is an adaptation of one of his own novels entitled Appunti per un naufragio. Finally, the essay also analyses the “language of the body” that the author-actor elaborates for his monological storytelling. The expression is purposefully ambivalent since it refers to both the mix of dialect and Italian which Enia uses on stage (as well as in his written work), and his particular “talking with the hands” – the hyper-realistic, hyperbolic, and cartoonish gestures that accompany his oral presentations.

Simone Soriani, Critico teatrale

Simone Soriani ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Studi Italianistici presso l’Università di Pisa (2005), dove per anni ha collaborato con la cattedra di Drammaturgia. È stato caporedattore della rivista di studi teatrali «Atti & Sipari» e ha lavorato come critico per «Liberazione» e «Il Giudizio Universale». È autore di Dario Fo. Dalla commedia al monologo (1959-1969) (Titivillus, 2007), Sulla scena del racconto. A colloquio con Marco Baliani, Laura Curino, Marco Paolini, Ascanio Celestini, Davide Enia, Mario Perrotta (Zona, 2009), Petrolini e Dario Fo. Drammaturgia d’attore (Fermenti, 2020). Ha curato Cicoria. Del teatro di Ascanio Celestini e di Gaetano Ventriglia (Titivillus, 2006) e, con Concetta D’Angeli, Coppia d’arte – Dario Fo e Franca Rame (PLUS, 2006).  Ha scritto saggi ed articoli apparsi su miscellanee italiane ed internazionali: tra le sue più recenti pubblicazioni si ricorda Le monologue d’affabulation : jongleurs, acteurs-histrions, Dario Fo et le théâtre des narrateurs , in P. Ranzini (a c. di), Théâtres de masse et théâtres populaires (Orizons, 2018). Suoi contributi e studi sono stati pubblicati su varie riviste, tra cui «Hystrio», «Ariel», «Prove di drammaturgia», «Teatri delle diversità», «Forum Italicum», «Chroniques italiennes», «Zibaldone».
