A confrontation between Elena Ferrante and Anna Maria Ortese: the city of Naples, the gateway, the identity
Keywords:
Naples, Identity, Writing, Revelation, ComplaintAbstract
The paper wants to propose a comparison between the Italian writers Elena Ferrante and Anna Maria Ortese. Through a critical reading of Elena Ferrante’s most important work, L’amica geniale, we will obtain clues to approach the character of Elena -the protagonist of the story- to the person of A. M. Ortese. This vision of the city of Naples, interpreted as a place of origin and return, a refused but, at the same time, well loved homeland, shows us the most evident affinity between both authors: a symbol of Italy and of the impossibility of change that the two writers presage and write about.Downloads
