Author Guidelines
A) The journal
Journal of Literary Education is a refereed, peer reviewed, electronic journal for those interested in the study and development of Literary Education. Its readership comprises practitioners, teacher educators, librarians, researchers and both undergraduate and graduate students. Journal of Literary Education offers educators a forum for debate about this discipline from a broad perspective. General issues and special issues are published.
The aim of the journal is to offer a platform to share researches about Literary Education from different disciplines and in an interdisciplinary way. That includes:
- Empirical studies of Literature.
- Social aspects of reading.
- Methodologies of teaching related to literature.
- Literature Education and other arts.
- Children’s and Youth Literature.
- Animation and other media related to literature
- Literature and ICT.
- Libraries and reading.
- Innovation and Literary Education.
- Literary Education and Global Citizenship.
- Etc.
The journal publishes an issue per year and it can include a monographic part and a miscellaneous part.
B) Commitment to originality
The authors undertake to send original texts that have not been published previously or are being considered in other publications. As a general rule, plagiarism will be checked automatically to every article. Originality would be a priority in order to select and publish contributions.
B) Procedure for the presentation of texts
The articles can be written in Spanish, Catalan, English, Portuguese, French, Italian, Greek or German. For other languages please consult before submitting.
All articles can be a maximum of 8000 words and a minimum of 6500, including references, abstracts, and footnotes. The original texts will be presented in two files in Word format.
The only way to submit your contribution is the electronic platform (https://ojs.uv.es/index.php/JLE/). After reception, the author will receive a confirmation mail and an editor will be assigned.
Authors are required to send two different files. The first file will include the article with the title (in the original Language and English) in the heading and the text, without any personal data of the author or authors, or comment or reference that identifies them, in order to guarantee their anonymity to the evaluators. Please be sure you have eliminated all references to the authors inside of the text and in file metadata.
Authors are expected to include at least three highlights, that is, three excerpts from the text (between 30 and 50 words) that summarise the main contributions of your article. These highlights will be included in the body of the text following the template.
For this file, please use Template 1.
The second file will include the following data:
-Title of the work in Spanish, English and Catalan. It should consist of 70 to 100 characters with spaces. It would include the most important keywords and be clear and concise.
-Author: name and surnames, complete affiliation, email address and postal address. In case of collective authorship, the above data will be recorded for the participants, in the order of signature of the article. The Orcid ID number (if you do not have it yet, please get one in https://orcid.org/) must be also included
- Two summaries of the article (in the original Language, English and Spanish or Catalan), about eight lines, 250 words each.
- Five key words article (in the original Language, English and Spanish or Catalan) maximum. Please, check the key words are appropriate (for instance, consulting similar articles in journals).
-The contact email.
For this document, please use Template 2.
Authors who deliver articles in languages other than English are required to send another file containing an Extended Abstract. This is a document including the title (in the original Language, English and Spanish or Catalan), name of authors, complete affiliation, and an abstract in English between 800 and 1000 words when the article is summarised including the main contribution of the research done and the Highlights translated into English.
For Catalan and/or Spanish translation you can consult the Editorial Board.
C) Format and presentation
The Editorial Board may reject submitted manuscripts during the preselection process due to formal reasons, such as spelling, vague lexical purity, incorrect punctuation, lack of coherence and cohesion, lack of clarity, inconsistency, etc. Thus, we strongly recommend the authors to carefully check the linguistic aspects before submitting the paper as well as the publication guidelines, the citation format and bibliographical references.
Authors must use provided templates in order to accomplish with the format requirements. Articles that does not fit in these templates will be returned to authors for being completed.
D) Peer reviewing.
This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author name(s) are not allowed to be revealed to one another for a manuscript under review. The identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.
The Journal of Literary Education adhere to the Committee On Pubblication Ethics policy about peer reviewing (http://publicationethics.org/files/Ethical_guidelines_for_peer_reviewers_0.pdf). The list of reviewers involved will be published every issue.

E) Bibliographic references
In general, APA 7th edition standards will be used. It is compulsory to include the DOI if the article have it. Reference Style
Text: References in the text must follow the style of references used by the American Psychological Association (Sixth Edition).
References must first be presented in alphabetic order and then chronologically, if necessary. If there is more than one reference from the same author in the same year, these must be identified by the letter “a”, “b”, “c”, etc., after the year of publication.

- If referring to a website in general, do not include it in the in-text reference or in the reference list. Include website name within the text and add the web address in parentheses. For example - The survey was developed using Chatgpt (https://chat.openai.com/)
- Leave out the name of the website if the author and site name are the same.
- If a part of the date is not available eg. not specific date eg. April 10 or no month, just include the year.

- If there is no date at all, include n.d.
- If there are references with the same author(s) and year, list them in alphabetically by title in the reference list. For he first of these references, add "a" after the year, b after the year for the second reference and so on. Use the relevant letter after the year in the in-text reference.
Images
Images will be included in the text, but in addition a quality copy, in TIFF or JPG format, will be sent with a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch.
Images will be presented in TIFF or JPEG files, independently (one for each file), clearly indicating their numbering in the file name. They should be numbered correlatively in the same order in which they appear in the text with Arabic numerals (Figure 1).
The quality of the illustrations should not be less than 600dpi for black and white reproductions; In color, 2,400 dpi. The illustrations will be accompanied by a foot or explanatory legend.
If the author proposes a figure obtained from another publication must have the corresponding permission and accompany it.
F) Proofreading
A single test correction will be made. In the correction only the necessary modifications will be allowed to eliminate the errata of the composition.
G) Other publication norms
Hyperlinks are embedded to the document using the corresponding URLs and square brackets. Remember to use services as bit.ly, Google Shortener, or is.gd for long URLs that interfere with the reading of the text. Hyperlinks may be referenced in the bibliography (see article template).
Elements in the text should be highlighted in italics. They should never go in inverted commas, bold, small letters or capital letters.
Inverted commas should be only used for direct quotations.
Abbreviations: Only universally accepted standard abbreviations should be used in the text. Abbreviations must defined when first mentioned in the text using brackets. For example: the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Abbreviations must then be used throughout the text.
H) Ethics guidelines
In general terms, the Journal of Literary Education adhere to the Committee On Pubblication Ethics policy about peer reviewing (http://publicationethics.org/files/Ethical_guidelines_for_peer_reviewers_0.pdf).
Ethics topics to consider when publishing:
Authorship of the paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
Originality and plagiarism: The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
Data access and retention: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data.
Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication: An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. JLE does not view the following uses of a work as prior publication: publication in the form of an abstract; publication as an academic thesis; publication as significantly reduced version in proceedings.
Acknowledgement of sources: Proper acknowledgment.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest: All submissions must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest.
Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Reporting standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.
Use of or case details: Studies on students or volunteers require informed consent, which should be documented in the paper. In case of children, they have to include the parents or tutors consent.
Declaration of interest
All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Examples of potential conflicts of interest include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding.
Submission declaration and verification
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as in a reduced version as a proceeding), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
Changes to authorship
Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.
Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended. If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests approved by the Editor will result in a corrigendum.
