Abstract

The first Spanish women students arrived at the university in the last decades of nineteenth century. At this moment, women began to join to university to be currently half of students and a part of staff .The article describes the stages of this incorporation, taking as reference 1910, when a “Real Orden” was promulgated to allow free access for women to the university. From this moment, the presence of women has increased, although this fact has not transformed the university, a place where gender patterns and inequalities between men and women are still persisted.
