This paper is aimed to trace Domènec Guansé’s critical attention to biographical genres throughout the 1920s and 1930s. On the one hand, it analyzes the advantages concerning the publishing market and the readers derived from the incorporation of successful prose genres in Europe, such as novel biographies. On the other hand, the relationships that these genres set up with the novel are taken into account, especially with regard to the potential opening of new creative paths that are placed in the bordering spaces between fiction and non-fiction. Finally, it addresses Guansé’s first biographical incursion, a work dedicated to Pompeu Fabra which is published in 1935.
