The Argentine documentary Nosotras también estuvimos, released on April 1, 2021 and directed by Federico Strifezzo, proposes a journey through the memory of three women who served as field nurses during the Malvinas War. The documentary bears witness to their experiences during the war when they professionally treated the wounded conscripts. The memory is drawn as a political exercise that culminates in a transgressive act: the nurses place a commemorative plaque in a monument to Malvinas veterans near where they worked as nurses, a monument in which they were not represented. In this work I propose a reading from masculinity studies to analyze the effect of this act that despite its transgressive burden ends up reaffirming a patriarchal gender organization.
