Abstract

This article studies the movie 1, 2, 3… al escondite inglés (Iván Zulueta, 1969), undoubtly the most paradigmatic example of Spanish pop cinema. The first film by Ivan Zulueta, remembered as a cursed filmmaker, is an emerging example of countercultural and anti-hegemonic discourse in the last years of the Franco regime, embarked on the international opening of its politics. The succession of musical sequences, almost videoclips of the bands of the moment, is a declaration of audiovisual intentions that perfectly defines the musical and social desires of a generation anxious for freedom.

Author Biography

Teresa Fraile Prieto, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Teresa Fraile Prieto enseigne au Département de Musicologie de l’Université Complutense de Madrid. Elle est titulaire d’un doctorat en Musicologie, Licence-Maîtrise en Histoire de l’Art et l’Histoire de la Musique. Elle a été professeur d’xpression musicale à l’Université d’Estrémadure (2007-2017), présidente de la Societé d’Ethnomusicologie et chercheuse invitée à l’Université Paris8, à la City University of New York et à la City, University of London, entre autres institutions. Son domaine d’intérêt comprend l’étude de la musique populaire et de la musique audiovisuelle, en soulignant l’édition de livres collectifs et la monographie Música de cine en España: señas de identidad en la banda sonora contemporánea (Diputación de Badajoz, 2010).
