Author Biographies

Enrique Bordes Cabrera, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

Enrique Bordes Cabrera holds a PhD in architecture and is a lecturer at ETSAM, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. His professional interests centers on museography, publishing and curatorial work, with a special focus on photographic narrative in architecture and the urban space. In 2017 he published his doctoral thesis Cómic, arquitectura narrativa , which served as the basis for the exhibition Beatos, mecachis y percebes, miles de años de tebeos en la Biblioteca Nacional (2018). In 2019, together with Luis de Sobrón, he presented the map Madrid Bombardeado 1936-1939 , a visual narration and remembering of the first modern bombing in history, which will be turned into a book in 2021.

Ana Merino, Universidad de Iowa  

Ana Merino is an award-winning writer and a Professor of Spanish Creative Writing and Cultural Studies at the University of Iowa where she founded the Spanish MFA. She has written extensive criticism on comics and graphic novels. She has authored two academic books: El cómic hispánico and Diez ensayos para pensar el cómic and a monograph on Chris Ware. Merino has curated five comic book exhibitions and edited several volumes. She was a member of the ICAF (International Comic Arts Forum) Executive Committee from 2001–2011 and a Directors Board founder member at The Center for Cartoon Studies from 2004–2014.
