Abstract

Among the reformulation markers, those with a recapitulatory function were the most frequently used in the city of Seville. This research analyses how present they are in the linguistic habits of Sevillians and the possible influence of gender, age and level of education social factors on their usage. The PRESEEA corpus of the Andalusian capital was used for this purpose. The analysis followed the premises of variationist linguistics, where the variable is represented by the pragmatic-discursive function of recapitulating and the variants are the discourse markers that fulfil this role. Among the main results we highlight that bueno was the most frequently used particle as a recapitulation reformulator; and, additionally, that this strategy was more used by men, second generation subjects and those with a high level of education.
