Abstract

The work done over the last ten years (2000 to 2009) regarding the Italian and Spanish lexicon in contact, both from a theoretical and practical point of view, is briefly discussed here. To achieve this, there is a review of some research centres’ work, a review of the most recent conferences where the bilingual lexicography of these two languages was discussed and the most recent publications of lexicographical criticism are listed, as well as the latest Italian – Spanish dictionaries that have been published.

As a result, it can be highlighted that Italian – Spanish critical lexicography mainly takes place in Italy. The reason behind this is, to a large extend, the result of the increase in Spanish language teaching in both Italian secondary schools and universities.
