Abstract

The present text deals with the problem of the consideration of a very old stylistic figure as the acrostic and the difficulty of its translation in a foreign language. With this purpose, the author considers a famous sonnet by Gwen Harwood and the acrostic poem mentioned in Jonathan Franzen’s novel Purity.
