Expectations regarding interpreters in Brazil in the light of pandemic-enforced technological change: A pilot study

Resum
Aquest article explora les expectatives que, des de diferents perfils, es fan valer al sistema jurídic brasiler respecte de la interpretació, i com poden haver canviat amb el pas a la interpretació a distància durant la pandèmia. En aquest article, analitzem les expectatives que recauen sobre les i els intèrprets i com es relacionen amb l'avenç de la interpretació a distància. Per això, l'article parteix de la conscienciació creixent sobre la necessitat de replantejar-se els mètodes utilitzats per comprendre les expectatives respecte de la interpretació. L'estudi es basa en qüestionaris realitzats a membres de la judicatura, la fiscalia i l’advocacia, com també amb intèrprets. Els qüestionaris examinen les seues reaccions davant una sèrie de vinyetes adaptades a situacions reals i planteja preguntes específiques, per comparar després les respostes recollides amb tots dos mètodes. L'estudi posa de manifest que les tecnologies han exacerbat les tensions entre les necessitats percebudes per les i els intèrprets i les demandes percebudes per altres agents que participen en el procés judicial. Aquest article sosté que les expectatives de les i els intèrprets depenen del concepte de presència lingüística, una noció que intèrprets i juristes entenen de maneres diferents. Aquesta discrepància és especialment pertinent tenint en compte l'avanç de la interpretació a distància.
