Abstract

Starting from the idea that youth is a passage to another thing, the article maintains that the difficulty lies in the time to think about what is specific and referring to another thing, where it leads. From a sociological point of view, when we think the youth as a passenger, we find the issue of education, because is first and foremost through education that sociology tried to think youth. However, sociology reduces the issue of youth to education and the education of the reproduction of social positions. Analyzing the consequences it has, from the contributions of philosophy and sociology, the article proposes a theoretical point of departure, that is rooted in the critical analysis of the Bourdieu sociology of education and is suggested that, besides being the reproduction of social positions, is «too» formation of a subject. The question of relations between youth and education is posed in terms of meaning and activity – without forgetting that young people occupy a position in an unequal society –and not (only) from a «negative reading», stressing that «it laks» to reality to be different.
