This paper explains and evaluates the variations between two versions of the text of the novel Últimas tardes con Teresa, by Juan Marsé: the one which the author submitted as definitive for the Biblioteca Breve Prize in 1965 and the one that was finally published after the intervention of censorship, a year later. In our analysis, we have used the typewritten manuscript copy included in the censorship file in the Archivo General de la Administración. The comparison of both versions and the rest of the documentation included in the file allows us to critically assess the extent of the intervention of Francoist’s censorship on Spanish literature and the interference that it had on the interpretation and reception of the texts.
